We must look at the digestion of Sanskrit into the Western frame of thought. But first, let’s look at digestion; what is it? Digestion is a very interesting concept used by Raji Malhotra to explain what is happening to Indic traditions. It arises out of Western civilization’s inherent discomfort with anything that is different from it, and its insecurity about survival, probably because there is a conflict with itself about the efficacy of its knowledge base, which is immature and incomplete. It seems to have the fear that it won’t manifest itself fully because it knows that there are gaps and flaws in the knowledge base, and it may not know it consciously. Anyway, this is what happens.
